Doktorlar (Doctors) is a Turkish medical drama produced by Medyapım and broadcast on Show TV from 28 December 2006. It is the Turkish adaptation of the American hit Grey’s Anatomy and stars Kutsi, Yasemin Ergene, Leyla Göksun, Bekir Aksoy, Melike Güner and Yeşim Ceren Bozoğlu.
At Turkey’s best hospital, a new day and a new era begin under the leadership of surgeon Haldun Göksun, with a fresh group of residents. Ela, Zenan, Burak, Kader and Hasan have very different personalities but one shared goal: to become good doctors.
Ela is the daughter of a famous surgeon, which, contrary to what everyone thinks, only makes her life harder. Her first meeting with a handsome, successful and surprising surgeon at the hospital does not go well, but it marks the start of a story that mixes life-and-death cases with friendships, rivalries and love.
The series first ended with its 87th episode on 30 March 2009. Thanks to the popularity of its reruns, it returned to Show TV on 3 December 2010, with Leyla Göksun taking over the leading role from Yasemin Ergene. It finally ended with its 97th episode on 14 February 2011, after four seasons.
Doktorlar was one of the first successful Turkish adaptations of an American drama, and it remains a nostalgic favourite for many viewers.
