About the series
1 Kadın 1 Erkek (One Woman One Man) is a much-loved Turkish sitcom starring Demet Evgar and Emre Karayel as a couple whose everyday life, arguments and inside jokes are the whole show. It is the Turkish adaptation of the French-Canadian comedy Un gars, une fille, and it became one of the longest-running couple comedies on Turkish television.
What is it about?
Each short episode follows the man and the woman at home, in the car, with friends and with family. There is no big plot: the humour comes from small, relatable situations, from shopping trips and holidays to jealousy and in-laws, played with sharp timing by the two leads.
Broadcast history
The series first aired on Turkmax from 2008 to 2011, running for four seasons and 237 episodes. It then returned as 1 Erkek 1 Kadın on Star TV (2012–2013), and later as 1 Erkek 1 Kadın 2 Çocuk on FOX (2014–2015), following the couple into parenthood.
Why it is worth watching
Demet Evgar and Emre Karayel’s chemistry turned the format into a cult favourite. Its quick, sketch-like episodes make it easy to binge, and many Turkish viewers still quote its lines today.
