Serenay Sarıkaya

Serenay Sarıkaya is one of Turkey’s best-known actresses, famous for Mira in Medcezir, Duru in the digital hit Fi, Şahsu in Netflix’s Şahmaran and Devin in Aile. She was born on 1 July 1992 in Ankara and spent her early childhood in Antalya.

Early career

Sarıkaya graduated from the theatre department of Ataşehir Adıgüzel Fine Arts High School. She debuted at 14 with a small part in the film Şaşkın (2006), followed by Plajda (2008). Her first lead was in the children’s fantasy series Peri Masalı (2008), and her breakthrough came as Sofia in the crime comedy Adanalı (2008–2010).

At 15 she received a special jury award at a European youth beauty contest, and in 2010 she was first runner-up at Miss Turkey.

Stardom

After the period drama Lale Devri, she starred as Mira opposite Çağatay Ulusoy in Medcezir (2013–2015), the Turkish O.C., which made her a household name; GQ Turkey named her Woman of the Year in 2014. She rose to international prominence with the psychological drama Fi and later led Netflix’s fantasy series Şahmaran with Burak Deniz, and the family crime drama Aile with Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ.

On film she appeared in Behzat Ç. Ankara Yanıyor and İkimizin Yerine, and since 2019 she has starred in Alice Müzikali. She has won two Golden Butterfly Awards.
