About the series

Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir (The House You Are Born In Is Your Destiny, also known as My Home My Destiny) is a Turkish romantic drama that aired on TV8 from 25 December 2019 to 12 May 2021. It stars Demet Özdemir, İbrahim Çelikkol and Engin Öztürk, and is based on a book by psychiatrist Gülseren Budayıcıoğlu.

Plot

Zeynep Göksu is born into a poor family with few chances in life. Her father is a violent alcoholic, her mother is weak, and her older brother dies for lack of medical care. Her fate changes when the wealthy family that employs her mother as a maid offers to adopt her, and her parents agree in the hope of a better life for her.

Zeynep grows into an intelligent, educated and beautiful young woman, engaged to a high-society man. But when her biological mother reappears and tries to pull her back into the home where she was born, Zeynep must confront her past and decide who she really is. On this journey she finds a steady, loving presence in Mehdi.

The series was directed by Çağrı Bayrak and produced by OGM Pictures, with a large writing team.

Why watch it

Based on real stories from Budayıcıoğlu’s practice, the drama is both heartbreaking and hopeful. It was one of TV8’s biggest hits and earned Demet Özdemir praise for a demanding dramatic role.
