Biography
Erkan Meriç is a Turkish actor and model who won the title Best Model of the World in 2009 and then became a TV leading man as Ömer in the long-running drama Adını Sen Koy. He was born on 26 July 1986 in Adana and completed his schooling in Mersin.
Education
Meriç graduated from the Electronics and Automation Department of Mersin University in 2008.
Modelling
Encouraged by his family and friends, he joined a modelling agency after university. At the Best Model of Turkey contest in 2008 he was named Best Photo Model, and the following year he won the competition outright as Turkey’s best male model.
Representing Turkey at Best Model of the World 2009 in Bulgaria, he won first place, becoming only the third Turkish man to take the title after Kenan İmirzalıoğlu and Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ.
Acting career
Like his predecessors, Meriç moved from the catwalk to the screen. His big role came in Adını Sen Koy, where he starred opposite Hazal Subaşı in the first two seasons. The daily drama ran for 397 episodes on TRT 1, Star TV and TV8 and built him a loyal fan base in Turkey and abroad.
