Farah Zeynep Abdullah

Biography

Farah Zeynep Abdullah is a Turkish actress and singer, acclaimed for her roles in Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman ki, Kurt Seyit ve Şura, Masumlar Apartmanı and the film Kelebeğin Rüyası. She was born on 17 August 1989 in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, and has won two SİYAD awards from Turkey’s film critics.

Early life

Abdullah attended the Lycée Français Saint-Michel in Istanbul until her family moved to London for her father’s job. She graduated in French, Drama and Media Studies from the University of Kent in 2013.

Television

While still a student, she was cast in the family drama Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman ki (2010), staying for two seasons and 79 episodes and winning Best Supporting Actress at the 2011 Antalya Television Awards. She then worked again with Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ in Kurt Seyit ve Şura.

In 2016 she joined Muhteşem Yüzyıl: Kösem as the Hungarian princess Farya Bethlen, and later starred as a singer in the period series Gülizar. From 2020 to 2021 she played alongside Birkan Sokullu in Masumlar Apartmanı, adapted from a book by psychiatrist Gülseren Budayıcıoğlu.

Film

In 2013 she appeared in Yılmaz Erdoğan’s Kelebeğin Rüyası (The Butterfly’s Dream), Turkey’s submission for the Academy Awards, winning Best Supporting Actress at the 18th Sadri Alışık Awards and from the Cinema Writers Association.
