About the series
Erşan Kuneri is a Turkish Netflix original comedy created, written and directed by Cem Yılmaz, who also plays the title role. The first season was released on 13 May 2022 and the second followed, for 16 episodes in total. The ensemble includes Zafer Algöz, Ezgi Mola, Çağlar Çorumlu, Merve Dizdar, Nilperi Şahinkaya, Bülent Şakrak and Uraz Kaygılaroğlu.
The title character first appeared in Yılmaz’s hit film Arif V 216 (2018).
Plot
It is the 1980s and Erşan Kuneri is a director of low-budget Turkish “erotic” films. After a military coup bans his films, he tries his luck with every other genre: science fiction, Westerns, superhero films, horror and more. Each episode tells the story of a new production, as Erşan and his chaotic crew try to make art, money and a name for themselves at the same time, in a loving parody of the golden age of Yeşilçam cinema.
