About the series
Azize is a Turkish drama starring Hande Erçel in the title role opposite Buğra Gülsoy. Produced by Süreç Film, directed by Volkan Kocatürk and written by Erkan Birgören, Başar Başaran and Emre Özdur, it premiered on Kanal D on 19 November 2019.
Story
Azize tells the story of a young woman whose life is marked by hardship, family conflict and a love that has to survive powerful obstacles. Hande Erçel took on one of her most dramatic roles as Azize Aksu Günay, moving away from the romantic comedies that had made her famous.
A short run
Despite the strong cast, the series was cancelled after only six episodes, with the final one airing on 28 December 2019. Its short life has made it something of a curiosity for fans of Hande Erçel and Buğra Gülsoy, who often look for it online.
Why fans remember it
Azize came between Hande Erçel’s TRT 1 drama Halka and her global hit Sen Çal Kapımı, and it is an interesting chance to see her in a darker, more emotional role.
